Slavina, Slovenia

We will spend most of our time based in Slavina, Slovenia. Slavina is in southwestern Slovenia, in the Notranjska region. We will be excavating at the Iron Age hillfort site of Baba, which is a five-minute walk from the bed and breakfast where we will be staying.

Turistična kmetija pri Marlnarjevih (Malnar Tourist Farm)

We will be staying at a tourist farm, which is a bed and breakfast that is also a working farm. At the Malnar farm there are goats, ducks, and chickens. This is a rich agricultural area, and we’ll also enjoy fresh produce, cured meat, and local cheese at the Malnar’s farm and restaurants in the surrounding region.

There are a mix of single, double, and quadruple rooms, all with attached bathrooms.

Ljubljana, Slovenia

The last days of the program will be spent in the capital city of Ljubljana. Students will get to enjoy one of Europe’s greenest cities (in green space and sustainability), have coffee at one of the many cafes along the Ljubljanica river, or have gelato up at the castle. And in case you were wondering, it is pronounced “loo-blee-yah-nah.”

Hotel Emonec

Hotel Emonec is centrally located in Ljubljana, walking distance from museums, restaurants, and the old town, right between Kongresni trg (Congress Square) and the heart of the city at Preršernov trg (Prešeren Square).
