Adrienne Frie (she, her, hers) is an anthropological archaeologist at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the curator of the UWO archaeological collections. Dr. Frie’s ongoing research is focused on Iron Age Slovenia, where she investigates how animal depictions and faunal remains provide insight into prehistoric human-animal relations. She will be supervising excavations at the Baba hillfort.

Dr. Kevin Garstki

Kevin Garstki (he, him, his) is an anthropological archaeologist in the Department of Anthropology, Global Religions, and Cultures at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO). His research focuses on the use of digital technology in archaeological documentation, archiving, and teaching. Dr. Garstki will mentor students on digital methods in archaeology, run the structure-from-motion photogrammetry methods module, and aid in field training.

Dr. Edisa Lozić

Edisa Lozić (she, her, hers) is an early career researcher. She was a recipient of a prestigious Zois PhD scholarship and completed her PhD in Classical Archaeology with a grade of 10/10 in 2013. She held various positions in commercial archaeology until 2018 and in 2018-2019 she managed an international project at the National Museum of Slovenia. She is currently a research assistant with a PhD at ZRC SAZU and an assistant professor at the Postgraduate School ZRC SAZU. Her research has focused on airborne LiDAR in archaeology in archaeology since 2015. She is the author of a scientific monograph on Roman stonemasonry and is the author or co-author of 9 articles in prestigious international journals. Dr. Lozić will mentor students on digital methods in archaeology and run the LiDAR methods module with Dr. Štular.

Dr. Boštjan Laharnar

Boštjan Laharnar (he, him, his) works as curator for later prehistory in the National Museum of Slovenia. He is responsible for the Iron Age collection and plays a key role in sharing prehistoric issues with the popular media.He is also head of the museum project group participating in the Danube’s Archaeological eLandscapes project. He is also part of the Archaeological Department’s Portable Cultural Heritage – Archaeological and Archaeometric Research program. Dr. Laharnar will be supervising excavations at the Baba hillfort.

Dr. Benjamin Štular

Benjamin Štular (he, him, his) is a Senior Research Fellow specializing in Early Medieval Archaeology, airborne LiDAR in archaeology, and digital archiving in archeology. He is principal investigator and project partner leader on several international research projects, including ARIADNE and ARIADNEplus, and an ERC pilot project MALiAp. He was involved in the development of digital recording workflows for archaeological excavations in Slovenian archaeology in the early 2000s, and was instrumental in the introduction of 3D structure-from-motion recording in the early 2010s. More recently, he has focused on the development of archaeology-specific methods for airborne LiDAR, including the development of the Open LiDAR Toolbox. Dr. Štular will mentor students on digital methods in archaeology and run the LiDAR methods module with Dr. Lozić.
